Hi, folks! it's about time someone spoke up from the pets' point of view, and gave you poor benighted Treelegs the lowdown on us critters. I may be just a virtual kitty, but I have friends who are real cats - and they have friends who are dogs, chinchillas, ferrets, fish, parrots...you get the picture. We even have a Treelegs vet on call - so what I don't know, I'll go find out. I'll be putting up care tips for furs, foos, and pokeys, as well as answering pet questions, so watch this space! (cause it's gonna do a trick, lol)

FINDING A PARTICULAR PET WITH THE "NEW" ADOPT A PET/SHELTER TAB...
To search for a specific pet in the "new" Shelter Pets tab, make a note of the stats and birth date of the one(s) you seek - the odds of both being the same on two pets of the same breed are VERY slim. Click for details on any pet of your breed listed with a matching DOB...if they have the same stats as well, it is almost CERTAIN to be the one you are looking for! Hooray!
(we have noticed that recently foosheltered pets tend to come up at least a few times within a week or so, so if you are watching for one, be alert and ready. If you have dogs, letting a few play in the Walk Yard will keep them busy and content while you search, rather than making them stand and wait.)
Good luck - there are literally hundreds of thousands of animals in the fooshelter, and now that people get rewarded for putting us there (whimper), there are more every day, so the chances of finding yours on their list are not good...but miracles happen. if you find one, let us know and we'll throw a party !

HOW TO RUN A PET LINK SEARCH IN GENERAL
My Treelegs told me that a lot of you are trying to rescue my cousins from the fooshelter, especially now when they may be in danger of being erased ! (shudder)
Here is how you use a link search to look for particular pets in the fooshelter.
1. find a pet, yours or anyone's, whose age is close to the age of the pet you'd like to find. try to use a pet whose age has NOT been accelerated - foo changes their date of birth, but not their link number, so they are out of sequence.
2. click on the "profile" option for that pet
3. using the mouse and keyboard, change the LAST number in the pet's link code (number at end of URL in browser bar) up or down one (7 to either 6 or 8, for example)
4. click on the arrow/go to at the far right of your browser bar, and you will see the entry for the new link.
5. keep changing the number to one higher or lower after each click. don't get discouraged - there are a LOT of pets out there, and it may take a while to find the one you want. keep notes on paper of the link #s (all the numbers at the end of the code) of pets that you like, or bookmark them in your computer, so that you can come back and get them when you are ready.
*** GOOD NEWS! *** we have been told about a marvelous invention called a "URL Flipper" that will automatically advance the pages for you, making link-searching much easier and faster! (add-on number 3572 on FireFox - thanks, Crazee! Chrome has something called "nextURL", I believe.)
REMEMBER THAT ALL PETS OVER 4 MONTHS, AND ALL ACCELERATED PETS, GET NEUTERED IN THE FOOSHELTER!!!
From what I hear, they made a lot of us disappear from the fooshelter... (I don't know why. it's very sad.)
If you keep hitting "no pet" or words to that effect, especially in links lower than 6000001, try changing the second or third number in the link code up one instead, until you get into a group of pets. Good luck - and thank you for trying to save us!

If you adopt out a kitten younger than 4 months from the shelter, will it be fixed?
ReplyDeleteno, they are not fixed until the day after their 4 month "birthday - younger pets than that are not fixed. we have brought out several younger cats from the Fooshelter for adoption, so we can say for sure that that is how it works.
ReplyDeleteI did not know nugget was from the gold rush!
ReplyDeletenuggets is so cute!
ReplyDeletethank you! i feel it is my duty as a kitten to be as cute as possible, on behalf of all cats everywhere.
ReplyDeletehey! i will add you on foopets, anyways, i am looking for a non-spayed female choclate lab on foopets. i can't find one! do you know where to find one 30 foodollars and under?
ReplyDeletei will look around but your best bet is probably to link-search pets under 4 months and bookmark the female labs for gem purchase on Fridays. with all the new breeds out they may not be getting adopted as often - you might also check the shelter link section to see if anyone has one, SafeForever found their male choclab that way a while ago.
ReplyDeleteFabulous idea this is. I am trying to find, as I am trying to complete a family, them not for 300FD but 50FD. Link searching is hard, I found one so close- age, breed, stats but not link. If you find him tell me. I am sending you his link on Foopets! Thanks
ReplyDeleteI like your cat!
ReplyDeletethank you! Feel free to visit my other cousins over at FooBA4U. i will be putting up my holiday safety tips for RL pets soon.
ReplyDeleteJust a hint...For those using Firefox and wanting to do a shelter search..There is an add-on called a URL Flipper...Using this allows you to "flip" thru the links using your keyboard rather than having to manually change them one at a time...I use it and can fly thru the links at about 200 every 20 minutes...or less....Hope that helps a bit....
ReplyDeleteSorry...forgot this...Here's the link to the URL Flipper for Firefox

wow! thanks, CCL - that's fantastic! what WILL these TreeLegs think of next?
